Our lives may appear set in stone. But, look closer a moment and you’ll see that, thanks to the exceptional power and resilience of the human mind, body and spirit, they’re simply circles in the sand… ready to adapt to any circumstance.
Illnesses such as cancer can lead many – including me – to bury their head in the sand… almost accepting their fate without questioning.
But, in the days, weeks and months that followed, I reflected a lot on how short and fragile our very lives can be. If my time was to be short, I knew I’d rather use that time focusing on living and enjoying it to its fullest.
For me, it began with an affirmation: “Every day there is a reason to dress up.” And, so I did. First, there were the dresses. The makeup followed quickly, as did the high heels – but not just for work… I even went as far as dressing up for routine hospital appointments (much to the delight of doctors on duty).
And, do you know what? Life felt so fulfilling and enjoyable that I’ve done it ever since.
The power of positive affirmations
Positive affirmations like these may seem the stuff of magic, but they are scientifically proven and well-established in psychological theory.
The wording of personal affirmations can determine your success, so do keep an eye on wording. The thoughts that you are dwelling on directly affect what will or won’t happen.
Your affirmations should always focus on the desired outcome – as a given.
Instead of simply saying “I want be a sexy woman”, try “I am a sexy woman.” It feels more confident, doesn’t it?
Confidence like that pays real dividends: increasing your chances of meeting your goal. With regular practice, positive affirmations can make long-lasting changes to how you think, as well as how you feel. Small steps make the difference
