Hi. My name is Tineke and I am single, 63 years young and a cancer survivor.

Illnesses like cancer give you time to reflect on life. It really hit me how fragile and short it really can be… and I decided that I wanted to concentrate my energies on living and engaging with the world around me.

I felt invisible for so long that I decided to do something about it. It began very simply: I hung up a sign in my bedroom reminding me that “Every day there is a reason to dress up.”

… so I did! It felt amazing.

But it kept going from there.

First was the makeup, which made me feel beautiful.

High heels followed quickly – at work and at home. I even wore them to my checkups at hospital, much to the delight of the doctors!

I learned to live and enjoy life to its fullest and am determined to continue with it.

Life pressures can make it easy to lose sight and let old habits creep back in.

As an international manager leading a team of eight and assisting a European MD, means long hours and a lot of travel.

As easy as it is to focus just on my career, I cannot and will not.

By exploring my own thoughts, feelings and actions, I realised what truly makes me happy.

Age is but a number. Youthfulness is mindset which allows you to live life to its fullest, which is why I decided to share my discoveries with you via my social media channels.
